Comprehensive evaluation of growth characteristics, nitrogen removal capacity, and nutritional properties of three diet microalgae

Nitrogen is one of the main pollution sources in aquaculture system. Microalgae are considered as ideal bio-absorbents used wastewater purification, due to their nitrogen removal capacity and more importantly nutritional value. Nannochloropsis oceanica , Cyclotella atomus Conticribra weissflogii famous diet microalgae. However, estimation capability concomitant properties three species have been rarely reported, which was performed this study. N. C. were cultivated with two initial nitrate-N concentration, noted NC (13.85 mg·L –1 ) NW (5 groups, respectively. All microalgal strains group showed higher maximum cell density, specific growth rate, biomass maximal quantum yield PSII (Fv/Fm), total Chlorophyll carotenoids contents than that group. These results confirmed importance for generation photosynthetic performance. From Fv/Fm, has better adaptability towards depletion compared other selected strains. The microalgae exhibited significantly stronger absorption efficiencies at same timepoint, NW. Analyzing average amount absorbed by each daily, gained largest value, followed successively likely specificity. Moreover, removed 90% within five days 99% seven days, showing splendid potentials. feasibility removing from Nutritional also investigated. For species, lower beneficial production soluble sugar, lipid, saturated fatty acid, while led protein polyunsaturated acid. In summary, all strong capacity, whose characteristics varied concentration. practical application assimilating nitrogen, these findings could provide some references selection suitable order satisfy different requirements various aquatic animals.
